Omron HJA-312 Activity Monitor Review

Omron HJA-312 Activity Monitor
Omron HJA-312 Activity Monitor
Omron is very well known for creating a variety of different types of monitors that help many different aspects of health and well being. New to Omron’s line of already extensive line of products comes the Omron HJA-312 Activity Monitor, just released in early 2013.

Geared towards those who want to keep focused on long term weight loss goals, the Omron HJA-312 is an activity monitor that is designed specifically to track your movements throughout the day and calculate how many calories you have burned.

The Omron HJA-312 may be small and stylish, but don’t let its simple looks deceive you. This is an activity monitor that is easy to use and easy to program but keeps tabs on you at all times, giving you access to accurate information throughout your day and week.

Setup is quite easy – all you need to do is just follow the prompts to enter your age, weight, height, gender and weight loss goals to get it going. Then just slip it in your pocket or use the wrist strap and forget about it. It will track your movements and calculate a variety of stats for you.

You can select one of five different activity modes to track and display total calories burned, number of steps taken through the day, the amount of aerobic activity performed, and distance walked.

It will store up to seven days of information for you to see right on the display, but for more accurate and long term tracking, use the Communication tray to transfer your data to your computer and to Omron’s fitness center.

I like that the display and buttons are fairly clear and intuitive, but people with poor eyesight will have problems.

The one thing I don’t like about the Omron HJA-312 is that you need to buy the communication tray separately. Otherwise, it’s an affordable and very simple activity monitor that does what it’s supposed to and looks okay doing it.
